Shrink pores, calm down your skin: SKIN&LAB Dr. Pore tightening Glacial & Pink clay masks

As could be read in two blogs ago, especially spring can cause some pore problems. As the weather gets more humid and warmer, the oil production rises in opposition to the winter in which the cold weather dries out the skin more easily, causing dead cells underneath the skin. These dead skin cells mixed together with the oil in turn blocks the pores. Then as result, these clogged pores cause breakouts (acne, blackheads, whiteheads). Next to this, the blooming of flowers, new extra dust in the air, and the flowers on the trees that will be pollinated by insects such as bees or will travel around in the air by wind. All of this in the air will come in contact with your skin and you will also breathe it in so this could affect your skin not only from the outside but also from the inside.

But not only spring, unfortunately breakouts happen all year round!!

Keeping skin, especially pores, clean will definitely help with this. Some pore care will make your pores happy. 😊 Minimizing enlarged pores and shrink pores will avoid breakouts.

Last but not least, it is also a good idea to calm down and keep acne, blackheads, and whiteheads clean. Important is that cleaning pores and acne does not dry out your skin, that is not what we want!

Well balanced, glowing, non-dull skin with cleaned pores is what we go for~! Yas~!

Below you will find 2 k-beauty products from the brand SKIN&LAB. These two K-beauty products are both clay masks. One clay mask is called “Dr. pore tightening Pink clay mask” and the other clay mask: “Dr. pore tightening Glacial clay facial mask”. They are both wash off masks.

Dr. pore tightening Pink clay mask:

  • What it does

!!!Before explaining what it does: This mask will not be hard and dry like most clay masks, it will stay moist!!!

Now that that is clear let’s go on~ 😊

Okay so this wash off clay mask refines, purifies and brightens the skin. It cleanses the skin deeply, gently taking out waste from the pores and tightening the pores. The skin will feel very hydrated, smooth, and soft. Dull, darker skin will brighten up and will be glowing. This clay has a moist finish.

  • Key ingredients

Pink Clay from France and Pink Flower Complex

The French pink clay and pink flower complex mildly cares pores, removes dead skin cells by cleansing skin, and controls sebum.

Pink clay is a type of kaolin clay, which is found in nature and is as gentle to your skin as clay can possibly be. Pink clay is in between of white and red kaolin. This red is the percentage of iron oxide, so the higher the percentage, the redder it is. If it is a high percentage, it will absorb more. Therefore, pink clay is right in the middle, very safe for sensitive skin while being very effective. French pink clay contains traces of illite (decongests pores and blood circulation, making skin younger and brighter), montmorillonite (which absorbs, gently drenching excess oil), and calcite (a crystal that is known for purifying someone’s energy).

Calamine, Broccoli, and Vegetable Oil

The extracts from the calamine and broccoli rapidly soothes sensitive skin and the vegetable oil protects the skin from harmful environments. Skin therefore will be moist even after using the mask. Calamine is a medication for mild itchiness. For example, sunburns and insect bites. It helps aid acne, eliminates dark spots, and soothes dry skin. Broccoli has a lot of Vitamin C and E, which work as antioxidants. Vitamin C promotes production of collagen and Vitamin A protects against the UV rays from the sun. Vegetable oils have many phytochemicals and nutrients which helps moisturize, strengthen, and protect the skin.

  • Recommended skin / parts of skin

✔ Dull and dark skin

✔ Rough and dry skin texture because of dead skin cells

  • How it works

Again, it does NOT get dry and hard like most clay masks. On the package is mentioned that you have to wait 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. Just an extra disclaimer so you’re not waiting forever, wondering when it is going to get hard and dry haha. :’)

  • What it does

This wash off clay mask absorbs sebum deep from inside the pores. It removes waste and oil that causes acne. It tightens and shrinks pores. This is done by a 3 pore care system: Clean, Contract, Care. It firms up the pores and skin, cooling it down. As for breakouts, it calms breakouts down because of the tea tree leaf ingredient. It balances your skin, controls sebum, hydrates, treats acne, and cleanses deeply. It goes for a matt finish but leaves the moisture after washing off the mask. Because of the oatmeal it doesn’t dry out your skin.

  • Key ingredients

Canadian Glacial Clay

This clay already dates back to hundreds thousands of years ago. It has an impression of an anti-aging ingredient. It contains marine actives, rich earth elements, vitamins and micro-nutrients. The reason that this clay goes deep into the inner layers of the skin is because the clay is made up particles that are very fine, as fine as fog! Therefore, it can penetrate into the inner layers of the skin and suck out toxins. It improves the skin’s tone, texture, hydration, blood circulation, and removes accumulated dead skin cells, bacteria, toxins and other waste from the skin. It puts back minerals beneficial to the skin and protects the skin.

Tea Tree Leaf

The tea tree leaf ingredient especially calms breakouts. It is a natural exfoliant and is bioactive and is harvested from the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia. It is especially a good ingredient for facial cleansing and calming skin.

Oatmeal

The oatmeal in this clay mask is responsible for leaving the moisture after washing off the mask, therefore not leaving the face dry. It also has the function to balance the pH of dry, itchy skin. It works as an anti-inflammatory and anti-itch. Next to this, it has antioxidant abilities as well. It suits for all skin-types.

  • Recommended skin / parts of skin

✔ Oily skin

✔ Acne-prone skin with lack of moisture

✔ Open pores

✔ Blackheads

✔ Excessive sebum

Personal experience – Review

Dr. pore tightening Pink clay mask

pink-clay-mask-1.png

First of all, the smell is amazing~! It smells so good, I really felt like eating it but I don’t think that would be a good idea so I had to keep myself away from doing that lol

It’s an apple and floral smell, but I could never guess it was an apple smell as the clay is pink haha so when my colleague said it was an apple smell I was surprised. When I used it again I could smell the apple fragrance, isn’t it amazing how the brain works in cases like this? I really thought it smelled like some kind of berry yoghurt or something but it looked like that!! :’)

Okay enough about the smell. But okay! I use this mask on the dryer parts of my face, which is everything except my T-zone (I use the glacial one on my T-zone). I myself have minimal combination skin, and it is dehydrated, (Take the test here to get to know your skin better, if you’re still doubting!), it is not irritated but my cheeks are red-ish/pink-ish most of the time. Next to this my face often feels very warm, especially my cheeks. I can often feel the warmness from under my skin (need figure this out because my hands are always so cold!), probably something to-do with the blood flow of my face.

But anyways! I looooove to cool down my skin and use products that are light so it feels it really gets into my skin instead of just laying on my skin making my face feel even warmer.

This mask feels very calming and soothing on the skin. It comes with a spatula (the other mask too). I like to apply it to my face with the spatula and then spread it out further with my fingers. It spreads so easily! Kind of like lotion but thicker. After, 10-15 minutes it becomes a liiiiiitle more transparent and I could notice it getting into my pores and my skin drinking all of the good ingredients (not biased or anything, I mean it haha).

Do you know these situations in which a thick layer of yoghurt is dried in a bowl or on a spoon, and you want to wash it off and it kind of feels like some kind of thin jelly and a thin resistance keeps hanging on and washes away with the second/few multiple times? (I wish I could explain it better, this is the closest I can think of right now haha) That is kiiiiind of what it feels like when you wash it off! I’m a person who doesn’t really like washing off masks but does it for the sake of the benefits, but this is one of the few wash off masks that I like washing off for some reason.

After washing it off and patting my face dry it immediately looked less dull and very fresh. As it shrinks the pores many pores blurred out appearing much smaller, and the red somehow became less. It felt balanced and calmed down. It made my skin glow and look bright, even though it is washed away the moist is still there in the skin. Last but not least my skin felt even cleaner!

If your whole face is dry, I definitely recommend using this on your whole face, when I used this the first time, I used it once on my whole face too as not only my cheeks but my forehead was a little pink and wanted a full hydrated and moist feeling in my skin as my skin felt kind of tight and drier than normal that day! If you have this kind of day too just use it on your whole face. 😀

This mask I use on the dryer parts of my face (T-zone: forehead, nose, chin). Just like the pink clay, I like to apply it with the spatula and spread it out and then spread it out further on my face with my fingers. The clay is very dense and rich but still dries pretty quick which I find nice. When it is dried you can see the pores sucked in the mask. It didn’t burn, the skin felt tight and the clay mask gets into the skin well!

Compared to the pink clay, this one really feels like a vacuum cleaner on the skin lol.

Oh and when washing it off, I literally feel like it took away a lot of waste from my pores. I used other clay masks before, but honestly it felt like getting a sticker off from something with water (a good thing as a face mask for me, not a good thing when it actually is a sticker you want to get off from something hah). Because the last clay masks I used, they wash off too easily I wonder if it took anything from my pores. But the most amazing thing is that it didn’t strip moisture from my face. My T-zone didn’t look oily, yet clean and maintained the mask’s moisture in my skin.

If your whole face is oily, use it on your whole face! It doesn’t dry your face out, it cleanses away all the waste and oil, shrinks the pores and still leaves the skin moisturized and not dry at all. 😊

For both of these masks I tried to come up with some downsides but it basically does what it says it does, and does it very well~!

Before and after

The thing I noticed the most was the redness that was less than before! The redness faded away quite a lot! I wish I could show how the more oilier parts (on which I put the glacial mask) got less oilier and pores smaller, but the camera gets so blurry when doing close ups unfortunately haha

But you can especially notice the red spots being less and dryer parts (cheeks) appearing more moist and bright~!

Using both masks for optimal results – Multi Masking

As the picture says, you can use the glacial one on your T-zone (and any other oily, acne-prone parts on your face really, and parts that need more pore care in general), and the pink one on parts that are dry, sensitive and/or needs to be calmed down.

If there are days that you notice the oiliness of your hair got on your skin close to your hairline, you can for example use the glacial clay next to your hairline to prevent or treat breakouts~ I will be doing that if it occurs to me! (not on the hairline or hair itself obviously, just making it extra clear haha) Same for your neck, when you feel like your neck got oily because of your hair swinging against your neck through the day and use hair products etc., and feel some acne coming or already have, you can use the masks on your neck as well or as spot treatment! This would be the best with the glacial clay.

Reviews on the SKIN&LAB Dr. Pore Tightening Clay Masks
Instagram에서 이 게시물 보기

Well hello there! I will be having a campaign this October called “Masktober” (haha ugly campaign name huh?) and in this campaign I will try to use a minimum of 1 mask per day. Well I hope I can do it. So yes, this month will be full of face masks review. Let’s hope I can do it and crossing my fingers that I will mask everyday. . Let’s do day 1, I know i know its already October 2, but hey lets still do it okay? 😂 Okay, for today’s masks, I used 2 clay masks from #skinlab, its the Dr. Pore Tightening Facial Clay Masks, the pink one is for brightening and purifying, while the blue one is a Glacial Clay mask which is for tightening and cooling of skin. . Review time! 🌸 Pink Clay Facial Mask — This face mask is for brightening, purifying and also pore refining, This specific mask has a pink color to it and also has a thick, creamy, almost lotion consistency. It easily spreads onto the face and its feels very nourishing an moisturizing. I have tried this face mask full face and I have to say that this wont brighten up your skin in one use, it should be used consistently to see brightening effect. But girl, if you have dry skin and want your skin to be moisturized? Use this! Its almost like moisturizer to the face, after you wash up your face its already moisturized and the skin feels so smooth. The pores also looks as if it minimized, but this has the best nourishing effect! 🦋 Glacial Clay Facial Mask — Day kay this face mask is one of those “mud” type facemasks that sucks you skin and turns into cement, (just like the Aztec clay mask), but this one has a thinner consistency to it and it does not suck the life out of your face. You might feel a little tightening on your skin but bot to the extent that you cannot move your facial skin anymore. This has a cooling effect to the skin which I believe helps into minimizing the visibility of pores. This is best used on areas with large pore openings but thats just it. No other effect to the skin. ✌🏼 I am so glad to post a review today, so yeah, see you again tomorrow then? ✌🏼 🔸 🔸 🔸 🔸
